Very predictable result when fifth ranked Sf.Gheorghe (10-4) outscored on the road 13th ranked Craiova (1-13) 112-52. The game without a history. Sf.Gheorghe led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 74 of its points in the paint compared to Craiova's 26. Sf.Gheorghe forced 28 Craiova turnovers and outrebounded them 51-22 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American point guard Samantha Prahalis (170-90, college: Ohio St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Serbian Natasa Ivancevic (188-81) contributed with 19 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Five Sf.Gheorghe players scored in double figures. Forward Janina Simionca (176-84) replied with 24 points and swingman Irina Bors (178-88) added 12 points in the effort for Craiova. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sf.Gheorghe maintains fifth position with 10-4 record. Craiova lost twelfth consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with 13 games lost. Sf.Gheorghe will play against higher ranked Alexandria (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Craiova will play against Targu Mures (#14) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
