Regular Season Round 14: Targu Mures - Targoviste 42-83

Bottom-ranked Targu Mures (0-14) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 83-42 loss to third ranked CSM Targoviste (11-2) in Targu Mures. The game without a history. CSM Targoviste led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Targu Mures to just 5 points in first quarter. CSM Targoviste dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Targu Mures' 24. CSM Targoviste forced 26 Targu Mures turnovers and outrebounded them 54-26 including a 25-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. CSM Targoviste players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. American point guard Porsche Poole (172-89, college: Michigan St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 14 points and 9 assists. The former international center Andreea Hutanu (185-88) contributed with 9 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Coach Dan Fleseriu's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Mihaela Mihai (169-90) replied with 10 points and 8 rebounds and American guard Danielle Walker (178-86, college: Clark Atlanta) added 7 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Targu Mures. CSM Targoviste have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 11-2 record having four points less than leader ICIM Arad. Targu Mures at the other side still closes the standings with 14 games lost. CSM Targoviste will play against league's second-placed Alba Iulia at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Targu Mures will play against Craiova (#13) and hope to get finally their first victory.
