Regular Season Round 15: Tekkekoy - Bursa BSB 56-87

There was a minor upset when 4th placed Tekkekoy (9-5) was outleveled by sixth ranked Bursa BSB (7-6) in Samsun 87-56 on Saturday. The game without a history. Bursa BSB led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Tekkekoy's 38. They outrebounded Tekkekoy 48-37 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. Bursa BSB looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Tekkekoy's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Bursa BSB made 9 blocks. It was a good game for American forward Alyssia Brewer (190-90, college: UCLA) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 21 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 blocks. Center Deniz Selin Ekiz (189-89) contributed with 11 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Bursa BSB's coach felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Forward Doga Comba (185-94) answered with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and Nihal Gungor (-90) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Tekkekoy. Bursa BSB maintains sixth place in Group C with 7-6 record. Loser Tekkekoy keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Bursa BSB will face league's leader Yakin Dogu in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tekkekoy will play against Kastamonu and hope to win that game.
