Regular Season Round 17: Nevezis - Lietkabelis 64-67

Bottom-ranked Lietkabelis managed to get a fourth victory, breaking the series of six consecutive loses. This time they edged fourth-ranked Nevezis in Kedainiai 67-64. It looked good early as Nevezis took an 8-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lietkabelis had a 25-8 second period charge getting the lead and Nevezis was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 64-67. They outrebounded Nevezis 43-29 including a 35-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Russian center Ivan Nelyubov (207-88) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. American center Ryan Olander (213-90, college: Fairfield) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Lietkabelis players scored in double figures. Forward Arvydas Siksnius (196-87, college: Weatherford JC) answered with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and forward Simas Buterlevicius (200-89) added 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in the effort for Nevezis. Lietkabelis (4-15) moved-up to tenth place. Nevezis at the other side dropped to the fifth position with nine games lost. Lietkabelis will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Nevezis will play at home against LSU-Atletas (#11) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
