No shocking result in a game when third ranked AD Vagos (9-3) smashed at home 10th ranked CD Torres N. (1-13) 87-55. The game was mostly controlled by AD Vagos. CD Torres N. was better in third quarter 15-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding CD Torres N. to just 7 points in first quarter. AD Vagos dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to CD Torres N.'s 36. AD Vagos forced 24 CD Torres N. turnovers and outrebounded them 42-24 including 27 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by CD Torres N.'s players. American swingman Korinne Campbell (182-88, college: W.Virginia) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds to lead the effort and the other American import forward Janae Fulcher (190-90, college: Arizona St.) supported her with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. AD Vagos' coach Joao Janeiro felt very confident using 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. Even a double-double of 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds by American guard Brandie Hoskins (175-85) did not help to save the game for CD Torres N.. Mariana Pinheiro added 13 points for the guests. AD Vagos moved-up to second place. CD Torres N. lost sixth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. AD Vagos' next round opponent will be Olivais (#7) in Coimbra where they are favorite. CD Torres N. will play at home against GDESSA and hope to win that game.
