Regular Season Round 14: Alexandria - Brasov 66-52

Rather expected game when 7th ranked Brasov (7-7) was defeated on the road by fourth ranked Alexandria (11-3) 66-52. The game was mostly controlled by Alexandria. Brasov was better in second period 19-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Alexandria won last quarter 22-9. They dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Brasov's 24. Alexandria forced 23 Brasov turnovers. American guard Shanita Arnold (165-89, college: Arizona, agency: Gamble Sports Management) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points and 4 assists. The former international forward Georgiana Rus (189-87) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. American forward Carla Bartee (182-85, college: Mississippi) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 15 rebounds and Bosnian point guard Zdenka Kovacevic (170-87) added 17 points and 7 assists in the effort for Brasov. Alexandria have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain fourth position with 11-3 record. Brasov at the other side keeps the seventh place with seven games lost. They share the position with Galati. Alexandria will play against Sf.Gheorghe (#5) in Sfantu Gheorghe in the next round. Brasov will play at home against Satu Mare and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
