Regular Season Round 15: Turk Telekom - Mersin Univ. 42-73

Everything went according to plan when first ranked Mersin Univ. (10-3) outplayed on the road 7th ranked Nigde Turk Telekom (4-10) 73-42 on Sunday. The game without a history. Mersin Univ. led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Nigde Turk Telekom to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Mersin Univ. forced 30 Nigde Turk Telekom turnovers and outrebounded them 49-32 including 16 on the offensive glass. It was a good game for center Kubra Dicle (187-92) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 12 rebounds. Guard Ilknur Dumlu (176-89) contributed with 16 points, 8 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Mukaddis Aksoy (-91) answered with 10 points and 8 rebounds and Saliha Bilen (-95) added 6 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Nigde Turk Telekom. Nigde Turk Telekom's coach already knew that her team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Despite that victory Mersin Univ. went down to second position (Group C) due to points difference, which they share with Mulkiye. Nigde Turk Telekom lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the seventh place with ten games lost. Mersin Univ. will face Urla BLD (#8) in Izmir in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Nigde Turk Telekom will play on the road against Kocaeli and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
