Important game to mention about took place in Wedel. Fifth ranked Oldenburg (9-6) saved a 1-point victory on the road edging second-best SC Rist Wedel (11-4) 76-75 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of SC Rist Wedel. Oldenburg forced 21 SC Rist Wedel turnovers. It was a great evening for point guard Kevin Smit (183-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 15 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Jan Niklas Wimberg (204-96, agency: Pro One Sports) helped adding 14 points. The best for the losing side was swingman Janis Stielow (193-95) with 19 points and 5 rebounds and American point guard Diante Watkins (175-90, college: Robert Morris) scored 19 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Oldenburg maintains fifth place in Group North with 9-6 record. SC Rist Wedel at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. They share it with Hannover and Stahnsdorf. Oldenburg will play against Herzoege Wolfenbuettel (#11) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. SC Rist Wedel will play against Hertener Loewen (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
