Regular Season Round 13: Chemnitz - Donau-Ries 89-62

The game between third ranked ChemCats Chemnitz (9-4) and 9th ranked Donau-Ries (5-8) in Chemnitz on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. ChemCats Chemnitz outscored guests from Noerdlingen 89-62. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Donau-Ries. The game was mostly controlled by ChemCats Chemnitz. Donau-Ries managed to win third quarter 18-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Donau-Ries 35-24 including 23 on the defensive glass. American forward Candace Williams (184-88, college: New Hampshire) nailed a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and her fellow American import guard Amanda Davidson (170-83, college: Indianapolis) accounted for 17 points. ChemCats Chemnitz's coach Roland Senger felt very confident using 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Power forward Juliane Hoehne (189-83, college: IPFW) came up with 21 points and 7 rebounds and Finnish Linda-Lotta Lehtoranta (178-91) added 12 points respectively for Donau-Ries in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ChemCats Chemnitz moved-up to second place, which they share with Rhein MB. Loser Donau-Ries dropped to the eighth position with eight games lost. They share it with Oberhausen and Freiburg. ChemCats Chemnitz will meet league's leader TSV 1880 Wasserburg on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Donau-Ries will play against Oberhausen (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
