Rather predictable result when tenth ranked Cherkasy (6-8) defeated at home 13th ranked DniproAzot (2-12) 81-74 on Tuesday. DniproAzot trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 24-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 74-81 at the end of the game. Cherkasy dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to DniproAzot's 44 and made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Cherkasy looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized Moldovan guard Andrii Kalnichenko (200-86) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) who added 15 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American point guard Donald Sims (185-87, college: Appalachian St.) responded with 24 points and 4 assists and his fellow American import point guard Corey McIntosh (183-85, college: Iowa St.) scored 12 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cherkasy maintains tenth position with 6-8 record. Loser DniproAzot keeps the thirteenth place with 12 games lost. Cherkasy will face higher ranked BC Odessa (#4) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. DniproAzot will play against Halychyna (#8) and hope to win that game.
