Regular Season Round 16: Ferro-ZNTU - Azovmash 85-82 OT

Azovmash (#6) forced the game against Ferro-ZNTU (#4) into an overtime, but lost by three points 82-85. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Azovmash. Azovmash was tied at the half and again at the end of regular time. But they could not keep up in overtime eventually losing that period 6-9. Ferro-ZNTU made 20-of-25 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Azovmash turnovers. Strangely Azovmash outrebounded Ferro-ZNTU 44-32 including 34 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Azovmash helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Marshawn Powell (201-90, college: Arkansas) who helped to win the game recording 27 points and 8 rebounds. Guard Alexander Rybalko (190-79) contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. American swingman Marcus Ginyard (196-87, college: N.Carolina) replied with 26 points and 9 rebounds and the former international point guard Dmytro Zabirchenko (192-84, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) added 16 points and 9 assists in the effort for Azovmash. Four Azovmash players scored in double figures. Azovmash's coach Zvezdan Mitrovic rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Ferro-ZNTU have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with BC Odessa. Azovmash at the other side dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Ferro-ZNTU's next round opponent will be Halychyna (#8) in Lviv where they are favorite. Azovmash will play at home against Hoverla and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
