Regular Season Round 16: BC Kyiv - BC Donetsk 80-81

Date: January 22, 2014
There was no surprise when 8th ranked BC Kyiv (7-9) was edged at home by second ranked BC Donetsk (12-2) 81-80 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 17 points after three quarters before their 30-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. BC Donetsk outrebounded BC Kyiv 34-21 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Bernard King (196-81, college: Texas A&M) who helped to win the game recording 21 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import power forward Marco Killingsworth (203-82, college: Indiana) who added 19 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. At the losing side American guard Dominique Coleman (190-84, college: Colorado, agency: KMG Sports Management) responded with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international Ruslan Otverchenko (192-90, agency: Beo Basket) scored 17 points and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. BC Donetsk keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Khimik. Loser BC Kyiv dropped to the ninth place with nine games lost. BC Donetsk will face Hoverla (#6) in Frankivsk in the next round where they are favorite. BC Kyiv will play at home against the league's leader Khimik and hope to win that game.
