Final Genclik (9-8) survived in overtime against Istanbul B.B. (11-7) by three points 96-93 on Friday night. The hosts were tied at the half and again at the end of regular time. But they managed to win overtime period 11-8. Final Genclik made 31-of-36 free shots (86.1 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Istanbul B.B. turnovers. American guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St., agency: Two Points) scored 29 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import forward Marshall Moses (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) chipped in 25 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Eric Buckner (208-90, college: Georgia St., agency: David Lee services) with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 11 rebounds and forward Mehmet Ozdogan (198-87) scored 15 points. Istanbul B.B.'s coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Final Genclik moved-up to tenth place, which they share with I.T.U. Loser Istanbul B.B. keeps the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with 3 other teams. Final Genclik will meet Pertevniyal (#16) in the next round where they are favorite. Istanbul B.B. will play against Vestel (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
