Regular Season Round 16: Leipzig - Baunach 94-73
Date: January 25, 2014
Very expected game when 9th ranked Baunach (6-10) was crushed on the road by third ranked USC Leipzig (10-6) 94-73 on Saturday. The game without a history. USC Leipzig led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Baunach's players. Worth to mention a great performance of naturalized American forward Eric Vierneisel (201-85, college: California) who helped to win the game recording 29 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and Czech center Jaroslav Tyrna (207-86, college: New Orleans) who added 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks during the contest. Worth to mention Vierneisel played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped get the job in pro basketball. At the losing side American guard Marcos Knight (188-89, college: Middle Tenn.St.) responded with 16 points and his fellow American import forward Antonio Stabler (198-91, college: Queens, NC) scored 10 points. Four Baunach players scored in double figures. Baunach's coach Ivan Pavic gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. USC Leipzig maintains third position in Group South with 10-6 record having just two points less than leader Hannover. Baunach lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the tenth place with ten games lost. USC Leipzig will face TV 1862 Langen (#7) on the road in the next round.
