Very important is a home loss of second ranked SG BBZ Opladen (8-6) against eleventh ranked Lichterfelde (5-9) on Saturday night. Host SG BBZ Opladen was crushed by Lichterfelde in Leverkusen 78-58. It looked good early as SG BBZ Opladen took an 2-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Lichterfelde had a 23-16 second period charge getting the lead and SG BBZ Opladen was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 58-78. Lichterfelde made 26-of-33 charity shots (78.8 percent) during the game, while SG BBZ Opladen only scored nine points from the stripe. They outrebounded SG BBZ Opladen 33-19 including 22 on the defensive glass. Noemie Rouault (180-95) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 12 rebounds. Lena Gohlisch (173-93) contributed with 21 points and 4 steals for the winners. Lichterfelde's coach Timur Topal used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Mareike Nettersheim (186) replied with 17 points and 5 rebounds and center Marie Gulich (194-94) added 12 points in the effort for SG BBZ Opladen. Lichterfelde moved-up to tenth place in North. SG BBZ Opladen at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. Lichterfelde's next round opponent will be higher ranked Krofdorf/Gleib. (#9) in Giessen and it may be quite challenging game. SG BBZ Opladen will play on the road against TG Neuss (#11) and hope to win that game.
