Everything went according to plan when sixth ranked Artland Dragons (12-6) defeated 8th ranked Deutsche Bank Skyliners (9-9) in Quakenbrueck 83-77 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 31-22 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Artland Dragons shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 51.4 percentage. It was a good game for the former international guard Chad Toppert (199-85, college: N.Mexico) who led his team to a victory with 21 points and 4 assists (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). American swingman Brandon Thomas (198-84, college: Massachusetts, agency: Three Eye Sports) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Center Johannes Voigtmann (210-92) replied with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists (on 9-of-10 shooting from the field) and Danilo Barthel (207-91) added 14 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Deutsche Bank Skyliners. Artland Dragons moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Telekom Bsk. Deutsche Bank Skyliners lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with nine games lost. Artland Dragons will face New Yorker Phantoms (#12) in Braunschweig in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Deutsche Bank Skyliners will play at home against the league's second-placed Brose Baskets (#2) and hope to win that game.
