LPB top team - Benfica (12-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat ninth ranked Lusitania (4-7) in Angra 73-66. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 21-14. But Lusitania won second period 15-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Benfica made 19-of-22 charity shots (86.4 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. Forward Seth Doliboa (203-80, college: Wright St., agency: Hart Sports Mngm) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) for the winners and guard Jobey Thomas (194-80, college: Charlotte) chipped in 21 points. At the losing side point guard Jaime Smith (191-89, college: Al.-Huntsville) responded with 20 points and 6 assists and Zane Campbell (203-90, college: Al.-Huntsville) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. Four Lusitania players scored in double figures. Benfica have an impressive series of ten victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 12-1 record. Lusitania at the other side keeps the ninth position with seven games lost. Benfica will play against league's second-placed Vitoria SC in Guimaraes in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Lusitania will play on the road against Alges (#5) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
