Tenth-ranked Mitteldeutscher BC (8-10) used its home court advantage to challenge first ranked Bayern Muenchen (16-2) in Weissenfels on Saturday. The visitors from Muenchen managed to secure only seven-point victory 97-90. However their fans expected much easier game. Mitteldeutscher BC was tied after three quarters and then recorded another tie at the end of regular time. They were eventually defeated in overtime 5-12s. Bayern Muenchen made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Mitteldeutscher BC was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for international point guard Heiko Schaffartzik (181-84) who led his team to a victory with 21 points. Five Bayern Muenchen and four Mitteldeutscher BC players scored in double figures. Bayern Muenchen maintains first position with 16-2 record. Mitteldeutscher BC at the other side keeps the tenth place with ten games lost. Bayern Muenchen will face EWE Baskets (#4) in Oldenburg in the next round.
