Regular Season Round 15: Targoviste - Alba Iulia 46-56

An interesting game for Alba Iulia (14-1) which played road game in Targoviste against 3rd placed CSM Targoviste (11-3). Second ranked Alba Iulia managed to get a 10-point victory 56-46. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of CSM Targoviste. The game was mostly controlled by Alba Iulia. CSM Targoviste was better in third quarter 19-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Alba Iulia won last quarter 19-11. They dominated on the defensive end, holding CSM Targoviste to just 4 points in second quarter. Alba Iulia forced 19 CSM Targoviste turnovers. It was a great evening for the former international center Gabriela Toma (192-74) who led her team to a victory scoring 8 points and 10 rebounds. The former international guard Annemarie Parau (170-84) helped adding 7 points and 7 rebounds. Alba Iulia's coach Miroslav Popovic allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. The best for the losing side was American guard Porchia Green (180-87, college: Ball St.) with 12 points and 9 rebounds and the other American import point guard Porsche Poole (172-89, college: Michigan St.) scored 16 points. Alba Iulia have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. They maintain second place with 14-1 record behind leader ICIM Arad. CSM Targoviste at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Alba Iulia will play against league's leader ICIM Arad on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. CSM Targoviste will play against Craiova in Craiova and hopes to get back on the winning track.
