The game between closely ranked teams ended with 12th ranked Cluj Napoca's (2-13) home loss to eleventh ranked Rapid (5-10) 82-86 on Saturday. Cluj Napoca was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 4-point lead after three quarters before a 27-19 charge of Rapid, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 26 Cluj Napoca turnovers. Cluj Napoca was plagued by 31 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for the former international guard Florina Diaconu (170-82) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds. Guard Monica Nicolaescu (167-83) contributed with 12 points and 6 assists for the winners. Hungarian center Judit Kajdacsi (192-79, agency: Laszlo Vinko Group) answered with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and American guard Amber Jones (170-91, college: UAB) added 18 points and 4 steals in the effort for Cluj Napoca. Four Cluj Napoca players scored in double figures. Rapid moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Timisoara. Cluj Napoca lost their eighth game in a row. They keep the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Rapid will face Timisoara (#10) at home in the next round. Cluj Napoca will play against Oradea in Oradea and hope to win that game.
