There was a surprise result in Giessen where ninth ranked Krofdorf/Gleib. (7-7) defeated higher ranked Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (8-6) 61-54 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 4 points at the halftime before their 31-20 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. American center Mara Hjelle (187-89, college: Wayne St., NE) had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 19 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and guard Jennifer Mocanu (172) chipped in 22 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Krofdorf/Gleib. players scored in double figures. American guard Iwalani Rodrigues (175, college: Utah) responded with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and her fellow American import forward Savannah Stedman (188-89, college: Northwestern) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Krofdorf/Gleib. moved-up to eighth place in North, which they share with Hagen Phoenix. Loser Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel dropped to the second position with six games lost. Krofdorf/Gleib. will face Lichterfelde (#10) on the road in the next round.
