Regular Season Round 17: Halychyna - Ferro-ZNTU 69-63

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Ferro-ZNTU (11-6) against seventh ranked Halychyna (9-8) on Sunday night. Visiting Ferro-ZNTU was defeated by Halychyna in a tough game in Lviv 63-69. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Ferro-ZNTU. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 25-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Halychyna looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Halychyna made 9 blocks. Center Yaroslav Lemyk (204-85) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and American Kyndall Dykes (190-87, college: New Orleans) chipped in 13 points. Dykes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Halychyna players scored in double figures. Halychyna's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Marshawn Powell (201-90, college: Arkansas) responded with 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists and the other American import forward Jake O'Brien (206-89, college: Temple) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 10 rebounds. Halychyna maintains seventh place with 9-8 record. Loser Ferro-ZNTU dropped to the fourth position with six games lost. Halychyna will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Ferro-ZNTU will play against Mykolaiv (#11) in Mykolaiv and hope to secure a win.
