Regular Season Round 18: NY Phantoms - Phoenix Hagen 81-85

Everything could happen in Braunschweig at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Phoenix Hagen and 11th ranked New Yorker Phantoms had identical 7-10 record. But New Yorker Phantoms were not able to use a home court advantage and were defeated by the opponent from Hagen 85-81 on Sunday night. The guests trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-81. Phoenix Hagen made 18-of-19 free shots (94.7 percent) during the game. American players dominated the game. It was a good game for forward Larry Gordon (196-87, college: Cal Poly Pomona) who led his team to a victory with 12 points and 8 rebounds. point guard Henry Dugat (183-87, college: Baylor) contributed with 14 points and 4 assists for the winners. Phoenix Hagen's coach Ingo Freyer used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) replied with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) and point guard James Florence (185-88, college: Mercer, agency: Pro One Sports) added 19 points and 4 assists in the effort for New Yorker Phantoms. Four Phoenix Hagen and five New Yorker Phantoms players scored in double figures. Phoenix Hagen (8-10) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with MBC. New Yorker Phantoms at the other side dropped to the twelfth position with 11 games lost. Phoenix Hagen will face TBB Trier (#13) at home in the next round. New Yorker Phantoms will play against Artland Dragons in Quakenbrueck and hope to win that game.
