Regular Season Round 14: BG 74 Veilchen - Braunschweig 69-65

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Braunschweig (8-6) against sixth ranked BG 74 Veilchen (8-6) on Sunday night. Visiting Braunschweig was defeated by BG 74 Veilchen in a tough game in Goettingen 65-69. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Braunschweig. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Braunschweig won third quarter 15-6. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Braunschweig 48-35 including 16 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American forward Rickiesha Bryant (190-90, college: Tenn-Martin) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 14 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field). Polish forward Klaudia Grudzien (183-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. BG 74 Veilchen's coach Jennifer Kerns allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. American guard Alysha Womack (170-91, college: Monmouth) produced 23 points and 5 rebounds and center Katharina Wohlberg (185-82) added 11 points and 13 rebounds respectively for the guests. BG 74 Veilchen moved-up to second place in North, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Braunschweig. BG 74 Veilchen will meet Koeln (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Braunschweig will play against Hannover (#7) and hope to secure a win.
