Regular Season Round 23: Naestved - Svendborg 85-70

The game between second ranked Svendborg (12-5) and seventh ranked Naestved (8-10) was the most important one in the last round on Monday night. Svendborg was defeated by Naestved in Naestved 70-85. The game was mostly controlled by Naestved. Svendborg managed to win third quarter 22-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-25 free shots (84.0 percent) during the game. American forward Morgan Sabia (203-89, college: Hartford, agency: SDJ Sports) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds. Lithuanian swingman Marius Kasiulevicius (198-82, college: Trinity Valley JC) contributed with 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Naestved players scored in double figures. American point guard Johnell Smith (180-80, college: New Orleans) answered with 25 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and the other American import center William Paul (208-88, college: Arkansas Tech) added 15 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Svendborg. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Naestved have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to sixth place. Svendborg at the other side keeps the second position with five games lost. Naestved are looking forward to face higher ranked Bakken (#3) in Aarhus in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Svendborg will play on the road against the league's leader Randers and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
