Regular Season Round 18: Siauliai - Dzukija 87-47

The game between fourth ranked Siauliai (10-8) and 8th ranked Dzukija (6-11) in Siauliai on Tuesday ended with biggest points difference. Siauliai outscored guests from Alytus 87-47. The game without a history. Siauliai led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Dzukija to just 7 points in third quarter. Siauliai dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Dzukija's 30. They outrebounded Dzukija 41-27 including 30 on the defensive glass. Siauliai looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. It was a good game for American guard Travis Leslie (193-90, college: Georgia) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 7 rebounds. The other American import forward David McClure (198-86, college: Duke) contributed with 6 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Siauliai's coach Gediminas Petrauskas felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. point guard Darius Gvezdauskas (191-88) replied with 19 points and power forward Giedrius Staniulis (205-91) added 7 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Dzukija. Siauliai have an impressive six-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Dzukija lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the ninth position with 11 games lost. Siauliai will face league's second-placed P.Zvaigzdes in Pasvalys in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Dzukija will play at home against Juventus (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
