Regular Season Round 19: H-Sirenos - Aistes-LSU 71-65

The most exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Kaunas: H-Sirenos (#2) and Aistes-LSU (#5). H-Sirenos (16-2) won against visiting Aistes-LSU (8-11) 71-65. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 18-12. But Aistes-LSU won second period 21-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. H-Sirenos made 18-of-18 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. H-Sirenos outrebounded Aistes-LSU 42-18 including a 27-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Iveta Salkauske (197-82, college: Illinois, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of her eight free throws). Kornelija Balciunaite (176-81) contributed with 8 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Swingman Vitalija Kaminskyte (181-92) answered with 8 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Jolanta Marmiene (181-79) added 14 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Aistes-LSU. Four Aistes-LSU players scored in double figures. H-Sirenos maintains second place with 16-2 record having just three points less than leader Kibirkstis-VICI. Aistes-LSU lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth position with 11 games lost. H-Sirenos are looking forward to face Suduva (#3) in Marijampole in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Aistes-LSU will play at home against Fortuna and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
