Regular Season Round 19: Pertevniyal - Final Genclik 69-81

Date: January 31, 2014
Not a big story in a game when 16th ranked Pertevniyal (5-14) lost to tenth ranked Final Genclik (10-8) in Istanbul 69-81 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Final Genclik. Pertevniyal was better in third quarter 17-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pertevniyal was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for American guard Reginald Holmes (193-87, college: Morgan St., agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 assists. His fellow American import forward Marshall Moses (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) contributed with 21 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Four Final Genclik players scored in double figures. Final Genclik's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American center Marvin Jefferson (206-86, college: Idaho) answered with 18 points and 8 rebounds and Burak Can Yildizli (202-94) added 17 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Pertevniyal. Final Genclik moved-up to ninth place. Pertevniyal lost their third game in a row. They keep the sixteenth position with 14 games lost. Final Genclik will face Istanbul DSI (#15) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Pertevniyal's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Istanbul Istanbul B.B..
