Regular Season Round 25: Zalgiris II - Zanavykas 92-85

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams in Kaunas where ninth ranked Zalgiris II (10-13) defeated 8th ranked Zanavykas (10-13) 92-85 on Friday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 22-13. But Zanavykas won third quarter 28-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zalgiris II made 22-of-25 free shots (88.0 percent) during the game. Forward Donatas Tarolis (202-94) stepped up and scored 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and Justas Tamulis (194-94, agency: Beo Basket) chipped in 20 points. Zalgiris II's coach Tomas Masiulis allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side Paulius Kleiza (194-88) responded with 28 points and 6 assists and center Vilius Sumskis (213-84, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Zalgiris II moved-up to eighth place, which they share with defeated Zanavykas. Zanavykas lost their fourth game in a row. Zalgiris II will meet bottom-ranked Olimpas (#15) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Zanavykas will play against Triobet (#3) and hope to secure a win.
