Regular Season Round 18: Cankaya - 55 Genclik 98-64

TKB2L top team - Cankaya (14-0) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed eighth ranked 55 Genclik (3-11) in Ankara 98-64. The game was mostly controlled by Cankaya. 55 Genclik was better in third quarter 26-20. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Cankaya dominated down low during the game scoring 70 of its points in the paint compared to 55 Genclik's 30. Cankaya forced 19 55 Genclik turnovers and outrebounded them 54-18 including a 20-2 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by 55 Genclik's players. The former international center Candide Ozturk (188-89) notched a double-double by scoring 18 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and guard Nihan Demirkol (172-92) supported her with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 11 assists. Five Cankaya players scored in double figures. Even 30 points and 5 steals (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) by forward Dilan Celik (-94) did not help to save the game for 55 Genclik. Berdanur Akosman (-96) added 22 points and 7 rebounds. Cankaya have an impressive 14-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A with 14-0 record. 55 Genclik lost third consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with 11 games lost. Cankaya will play against Izmir BSB (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. 55 Genclik will play against Anadolu Univ. (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
