There was a small surprise when thirteenth ranked Buyukcekmece (8-11) won against on the road 11th ranked ITU Istanbul (9-9) 75-62 on Saturday. The game without a history. Buyukcekmece led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Quite impressive performance for American power forward Kahiem Seawright (206-86, college: Rhode Island) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. Forward Erdem Turetken (199-79) contributed with 19 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Gorkem Sonmez (195-90, college: Radford, agency: 1x1 Sports) answered with 16 points and naturalized Bulgarian forward Musa Gunes (200-85) added 12 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for ITU Istanbul. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. ITU Istanbul's coach rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Buyukcekmece maintains thirteenth place with 8-11 record. ITU Istanbul lost their fourth game in a row. ITU Istanbul at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the eleventh position with nine games lost. Buyukcekmece will face higher ranked Vestel (#4) in Manisa in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
