Twelfth ranked New Yorker Phantoms won an overtime thriller edging higher ranked Artland Dragons by one point 79-78 on Saturday night. The game took place in Quakenbrueck. But the guests from Braunschweig were better at the end. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Artland Dragons. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Artland Dragons won third quarter 22-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Artland Dragons used huge pressure winning it 18-15 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 6-7. Canadian-Dutch forward Aaron Doornekamp (201-85, agency: Interperformances) fired a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) chipped in 19 points. Four New Yorker Phantoms players scored in double figures. American-Cypriot power forward Anthony King (206-85, college: Miami, FL, agency: Interperformances) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and American forward Lawrence Hill (203-87, college: Stanford) added 17 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks respectively for lost side. Artland Dragons' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. New Yorker Phantoms (8-11) moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with MBC. Loser Artland Dragons keep the fifth position with seven games lost. They share it with Telekom Bsk. New Yorker Phantoms will meet at home SC Rasta Vechta (#15) in the next round. Artland Dragons will play against TBB Trier (#14) and hope to secure a win.
