Regular Season Round 17: BC Kyiv - Khimik 62-68

There was no surprise when 9th ranked BC Kyiv (7-10) was defeated at home by second ranked Khimik (13-2) 68-62 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 22-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Khimik dominated on the defensive end, holding BC Kyiv to just 7 points in first quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. American Romeo Travis (201-84, college: Akron) stepped up and scored 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Latvian Rolands Freimanis (206-88) chipped in 16 points and 5 rebounds. American guard Dominique Coleman (190-84, college: Colorado, agency: KMG Sports Management) responded with 7 points, 11 rebounds and 14 assists and international forward Vyacheslav Bobrov (201-92) scored 13 points and 8 rebounds. Four BC Kyiv players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Khimik. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with BC Donetsk. Loser BC Kyiv dropped to the tenth place with ten games lost. Khimik will meet Cherkasy (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. BC Kyiv will play against Hoverla in Frankivsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
