Regular Season Round 17: Budivelnyk - BC Odessa 84-59

The game between third ranked BC Odessa (11-7) and fifth ranked Budivelnyk (11-5) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. BC Odessa was crushed by Budivelnyk in Kyiv 84-59. The game was mostly controlled by Budivelnyk. BC Odessa managed to win fourth quarter 18-11. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded BC Odessa 42-24 including a 14-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Budivelnyk looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was Lithuanian center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) who scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. The former international Artur Drozdov (199-80) chipped in 13 points. The former international Andriy Agafonov (208-86, agency: Interperformances) produced 14 points and 5 rebounds and the former international point guard Klym Artamonov (186-93) added 10 points and 7 assists respectively for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Budivelnyk have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion moved-up to third place. BC Odessa at the other side dropped to the fifth position with seven games lost. Budivelnyk are looking forward to face Azovmash (#6) in Mariupol in the next round. BC Odessa will have a break next round.
