Regular Season Round 17: Stade - Recklinghausen 68-75

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Recklinghausen (9-8) defeated on the road 12th ranked Stade (2-14) 75-68 on Sunday. The guests started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-10. But Stade won second period 21-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Stade 40-29 including 27 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was American guard Cavel Witter (183-87, college: Creighton) who scored 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Stefan Fuerst (201-81) chipped in 21 points. Recklinghausen's coach Thomas Roijakkers used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Davon Roberts (197-86, college: Azusa Pacific) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import guard Reggie Hopkins (180-88, college: Queens, NC) added 8 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. Recklinghausen have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain seventh place in Group North with 9-8 record. Stade lost thirteenth consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 14 games lost. Recklinghausen will face league's leader SC Rist Wedel on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Stade will play against RSV Eintracht (#4) in Stahnsdorf and hope to win that game.
