Regular Season Round 18: Cherkasy - Khimik 68-72

Leader Khimik delivered the fourteenth victory. This time they beat 9th ranked Cherkasy (7-9) 72-68. It looked good early as Cherkasy took an 13-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Khimik took control winning next two quarters and eventually winning the game that evening by 4 points. They made 17-of-19 charity shots (89.5 percent) during the game. Khimik players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Latvian Rolands Freimanis (206-88) notched 19 points to lead the effort and American point guard Paul Delaney (188-86, college: UAB) supported him with 12 points and 4 assists. Khimik's coach Karlis Muiznieks allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even a double-double of 21 points, 5 rebounds and 10 assists by American point guard Ronald Moore (183-88, college: Siena) did not help to save the game for Cherkasy. His fellow American import forward Jamal Boykin (203-87, college: California) added 12 points and 6 rebounds. Khimik have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 14-2 record, which they share with BC Donetsk. Cherkasy at the other side dropped to the tenth place with nine games lost. Khimik's next round opponent will be league's second-placed BC Donetsk at home and it will be for sure the game of the week. Cherkasy will play against BC Kyiv (#9) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
