Regular Season Round 18: Azovmash - Budivelnyk 79-74

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Budivelnyk (11-6) against sixth ranked Azovmash (10-7) on Wednesday night. Visiting Budivelnyk was defeated by Azovmash in a tough game in Mariupol 74-79. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Budivelnyk. The hosts were ahead by 7 points but lost the second period ending it with a 1-point deficit before their 23-17 run, which allowed them to win the game. Azovmash made 18-of-19 charity shots (94.7 percent) during the game. It was a good game for American point guard Terrell Stoglin (185-91, college: Maryland) who led his team to a victory with 24 points and 4 assists. The former international point guard Dmytro Zabirchenko (192-84, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) contributed with 17 points and 7 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) for the winners. Lithuanian center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and the former international Artur Drozdov (199-80) added 15 points in the effort for Budivelnyk. Five Budivelnyk players scored in double figures. Azovmash maintains sixth position with 10-7 record. Defending champion Budivelnyk keeps the third place with six games lost. Azovmash will play against bottom-ranked DniproAzot (#14) in Dniprodzerzhynsk in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Budivelnyk will play at home against Ferro-ZNTU (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
