Regular Season Round 27: Palanga - Suduva-Mantinga 92-85

There was a minor upset when 10th ranked Suduva-Mantinga (9-16) was defeated on the road by thirteenth ranked Palanga (9-16) 92-85. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-19. But Suduva-Mantinga won second period 21-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Suduva-Mantinga was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for forward Rytis Biliartas (200-91) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds. Forward Ignas Pavilonis (196-90, college: Whitman) accounted for 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. point guard Matas Sapiega (179-90) came up with 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Donatas Sabeckis (196-92) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Suduva-Mantinga in the defeat. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Palanga moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with defeated Suduva-Mantinga. Palanga will play against higher ranked Zanavykas (#8) in Sakiai in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Suduva-Mantinga will play at home against Zalgiris II and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
