There was no surprise in Constanca where 14th ranked Farul Const. (1-16) was outplayed by eleventh ranked Gaz Metan (7-9) 106-48 on Friday. The game without a history. Gaz Metan led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Farul Const. to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Gaz Metan dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Farul Const.'s 24. Gaz Metan forced 22 Farul Const. turnovers and outrebounded them 48-22 including a 37-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gaz Metan shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Belarusian-Moldovan Vladislav Solopa (202-95) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists (perfect behind the arc making all five shots) for the winners and Serbian forward Bojan Radetic (203-88, agency: BeoExcell) chipped in 23 points. Five Gaz Metan players scored in double figures. Adrian Trandafir responded with 19 points and 6 rebounds and guard Cezar Stanescu (191-88) scored 14 points and 4 assists. Gaz Metan moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Steaua CSM. Farul Const. lost their seventh game in a row. They stay at the bottom position with 16 games lost. Gaz Metan will face higher ranked Oradea (#3) at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Farul Const. will play against Pitesti (#8) and hope to win that game.
