Regular Season Round 27: Mazeikiai - JAZZ-KTU 72-46

NKL top team - Mazeikiai (22-4) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed twelfth ranked JAZZ-KTU (9-17) 72-46. The game without a history. Mazeikiai led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding JAZZ-KTU to just 5 points in third quarter. Mazeikiai dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to JAZZ-KTU's 28. Mazeikiai forced 22 JAZZ-KTU turnovers and outrebounded them 45-29 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a quality performance for power forward Gytis Pakalniskis (205-89) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 10 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Raimondas Petrauskas (200-79, college: American, agency: Court Side) accounted for 16 points for the winning side. Forward Paulius Petrilevicius (201-91) came up with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Regimantas Ostreika (201-81) added 4 points and 7 rebounds respectively for JAZZ-KTU in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Mazeikiai maintains first place with 22-4 record. JAZZ-KTU at the other side dropped to the thirteenth position with 17 games lost. Mazeikiai will play against Triobet (#4) in Jonava in the next round. JAZZ-KTU will play at home against Delikatesas (#3) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
