Regular Season Round 16: Herner - Saarlouis 94-70

Date: February 8, 2014
Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Herner TC (9-7) rolled over at home 7th ranked TV Saarlouis Royals (7-9) 94-70 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Herner TC. TV Saarlouis Royals managed to win second period 23-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Herner TC dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to TV Saarlouis Royals' 34. The winners were led by American power forward Teya Wright (185-89, college: Providence) who scored that evening 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Serbian power forward Minja Terzic (188-79) supported her with 15 points. Four Herner TC players scored in double figures. Herner TC's coach Marek Piotrowski felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 23 points and 8 rebounds by American swingman Kayla Tetschlag (182-89, college: Green Bay) did not help to save the game for TV Saarlouis Royals. point guard Levke Brodersen (170-94) added 20 points for lost side. Herner TC have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. TV Saarlouis Royals lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the seventh position with nine games lost. They share it with Freiburg. Herner TC will meet ChemCats Chemnitz (#6) on the road in the next round. TV Saarlouis Royals will play against Osnabruck and hope to secure a win.
