Fourth-ranked Levski Sofia (10-5) was very close to win a game against first ranked Lukoil Acad. (14-1) on Saturday. Lukoil Acad. managed to secure only three-point victory 80-77. However their fans expected easier game. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Levski Sofia. The hosts trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 22-16 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The former international point guard Bozhidar Avramov (195-90, agency: Interperformances) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American point guard Christopher Dunn (189-83, college: W.Virginia St.) contributed with 16 points and 5 assists for the winners. Four Lukoil Acad. players scored in double figures. American guard Lionel Chalmers (184-80, college: Xavier) answered with 23 points and 5 rebounds and international Hristo Zahariev (199-90) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Levski Sofia. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lukoil Acad. have an impressive series of nine victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 14-1 record. Levski Sofia at the other side keeps the fourth position with five games lost. Lukoil Acad. are looking forward to face Rilski (#6) in Samokov in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Levski Sofia will play at home against Chernomorets and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
