Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Istanbul: Galatasaray (#1) and Istanbul Universitesi (#3). Galatasaray (18-1) crushed visiting Istanbul Universitesi (15-4) by 23 points 70-47. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Istanbul Universitesi. The game without a history. Galatasaray led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. American players dominated the game. It was an exceptional evening for guard Shavonte Zellous (178-86, college: Pittsburgh) who led the winners and scored 23 points. Center Kelsey Bone (193-91, college: Texas A&M) accounted for 16 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Shenise Johnson (180-90, college: Miami, FL) came up with 14 points and 5 rebounds and power forward Crystal Langhorne (188-86, college: Maryland) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Istanbul Universitesi in the defeat. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Galatasaray. They maintain first place with 18-1 record. Loser Istanbul Universitesi keeps the third position with four games lost. Galatasaray will meet at home Canik Bld (#10) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Istanbul Universitesi will play against Ceyhan Bld (#9) and hope to secure a win.
