There was no surprise in Giessen where 9th ranked Krofdorf/Gleib. (7-9) was edged by fifth ranked SG BBZ Opladen (9-7) 62-61 on Sunday. Krofdorf/Gleib. trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 19-8 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 61-62 at the end of the game. Center Mareike Nettersheim (186) fired 13 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Canadian point guard Alyson Bush (170) chipped in 19 points. The former international power forward Yvonne Weber (195-74, college: Washington) produced 18 points and 5 rebounds and guard Jennifer Mocanu (172) added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. SG BBZ Opladen moved-up to fourth place in North, which they share with Gruenberg. Newly promoted Krofdorf/Gleib. dropped to the eighth position with nine games lost. SG BBZ Opladen will face Baskets Grunberg (#4) in Gruenberg in the next round. Krofdorf/Gleib. will play on the road against TG Neuss (#11) and hope to win that game.
