Top ranked Tonybet (18-5) recorded its fifth loss in Prienai on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by top-ranked Lietuvos rytas (11-0) 70-57. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Tonybet. The game was mostly controlled by Lietuvos rytas. Tonybet managed to win third quarter 21-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Lietuvos rytas won last quarter 19-8. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Tonybet's 24. The best player for the winners was Colombian power forward Juan Palacios (203-85) who scored 20 points and 7 rebounds. The former international power forward Darius Songaila (204-78, college: Wake Forest, agency: Priority Sports) chipped in 14 points and 4 assists. Forward Arturas Valeika (207-85, college: Midland CC) produced 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the former international guard Mindaugas Lukauskis (198-79, agency: XL Basketball Agency) added 15 points respectively for the hosts. Lietuvos rytas have an impressive 11-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 11-0 record having nineteen points less than leader Tonybet. Tonybet at the other side still keeps top place with five games lost. Lietuvos rytas will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tonybet will play at home against Lietkabelis and is hoping to win this game.
