Regular Season Round 16: BG 74 Veilchen - Wolfenbuettel 67-64

Important game to mention about took place in Goettingen. Third ranked BG 74 Veilchen (10-6) saved a 3-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel (8-8) 67-64 on Sunday evening. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel won third quarter 16-15. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when BG 74 Veilchen won last quarter 20-18. They also forced 21 Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel turnovers and outrebounded them 36-23 including 26 on the defensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard Nele Aha (171-96) who helped to win the game recording 21 points. American forward Rickiesha Bryant (190-90, college: Tenn-Martin) contributed with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. American guard Iwalani Rodrigues (175, college: Utah) replied with 21 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists and her fellow American import forward Savannah Stedman (188-89, college: Northwestern) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. BG 74 Veilchen have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place in North, which they share with Hannover. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Braunschweig. BG 74 Veilchen will play against Lichterfelde (#8) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Wolfpack Wolfenbuettel will play against Hannover and hopes to get back on the winning track.
