Regular Season Round 19: Tarsus Bld - Mersin 78-81

Thirteenth-ranked Tarsus Bld (4-15) used its home court advantage to challenge sixth ranked Mersin (10-9). The visitors managed to secure only three-point victory 81-78. However their fans expected much easier game. Tarsus Bld was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 27-13 third quarter run of Mersin. They outrebounded Tarsus Bld 32-19 including 19 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Mersin especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. American center Courtney Paris (191-87, college: Oklahoma) fired a double-double by scoring 22 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Croatian swingman Ana Lelas (183-83) chipped in 26 points. Four Mersin players scored in double figures. American Delisha Milton-Jones (186-74, college: Florida, agency: Josep and Nicolas) produced 28 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import point guard Natasha Lacy (178-85, college: UTEP, agency: Merit Management Group) added 8 points and 7 assists respectively for lost side. The victory was the third consecutive win for Mersin. They maintain sixth place with 10-9 record. Tarsus Bld at the other side keeps the thirteenth position with 15 games lost. Mersin's next round opponent will be higher ranked Kayseri (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tarsus Bld will play against Antakya (#7) in Hatay and hope to win that game.
