Regular Season Round 16: Osnabruck - Rhein MB 64-73
Date: February 9, 2014
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Rhein Main Baskets (12-4) beat on the road bottom-ranked Osnabruck (4-12) 73-64 on Sunday. Osnabruck trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 16 after three quarters before a 15-8 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 64-73 at the end of the game. Rhein Main Baskets forced 21 Osnabruck turnovers. The winners were led by American forward Denise Beliveau (180-89, college: New Hampshire) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds and the other American import guard Alyssa Karel (172-89, college: Wisconsin) supported her with 17 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals. Even 18 points and 7 rebounds by American forward Ali Schwagmeyer (180-90, college: Quincy, agency: Gamble Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Osnabruck. Power forward Britta Worms (186-88) added 16 points and 4 blocks for lost side. Osnabruck's coach Christian Kaiser tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Rhein Main Baskets have an impressive seven-game winning streak. They maintain second position with 12-4 record having just three points less than leader Wasserburg. Osnabruck lost ninth consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with 12 games lost. They share the position with Bamberg.
