Regular Season Round 19: Halychyna - Mykolaiv 95-71
Date: February 11, 2014
Rather predictable result in Lviv where seventh ranked Halychyna (10-8) outscored 11th ranked Mykolaiv (8-10) 95-71. The game without a history. Halychyna led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Mykolaiv's 30. They outrebounded Mykolaiv 37-23 including 25 on the defensive glass. It was a great shooting night for Halychyna especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 57.1 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. It was a very good performance for center Yaroslav Lemyk (204-85) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). American Kyndall Dykes (190-87, college: New Orleans) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Dykes is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Four Halychyna players scored in double figures. The former international forward Olexiy Onufriyev (200-82) answered with 22 points and Latvian swingman Mareks Jurevicus (197-85) added 16 points in the effort for Mykolaiv. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Halychyna. They maintain seventh place with 10-8 record. Mykolaiv at the other side dropped to the ninth position with ten games lost. They share it with Hoverla. Halychyna will play against SC Kryvbas (#12) in Kryvyi Rih in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Mykolaiv will play on the road against DniproAzot in Dniprodzerzhynsk and hopes to get back on the winning track.
