Regular Season Round 18: Virum - Stevnsgade 71-82

Date: February 12, 2014
Very expected game when 9th ranked Virum (3-14) lost at home to fifth ranked Stevnsgade (10-7) 82-71 on Wednesday. The guests trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 47-35 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Stevnsgade shot 23 for 36 from the free-throw line, while Virum only scored six points from the stripe. 29 personal fouls committed by Virum helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a good game for American forward Julie Forster (185-91, college: Albany) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 21 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import swingman Sarah Eichler (182-91, college: Green Bay) contributed with 20 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Stevnsgade players scored in double figures. Guard Ivana Kostic (177-85) replied with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and forward Cecilie Homann (185-89) added 13 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Virum. Virum's coach Turi Hoegh rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Stevnsgade moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Lemvig. Virum at the other side, also newcomer in the league, dropped to the eighth position with 14 games lost. They share it with Vaerlose. Stevnsgade is looking forward to face bottom-ranked Horsens (#10) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Virum will play against Horsholm and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
